Originally hailing from Southwest Queensland and born into a racing family, Clinton Taylor kicked off his career as a jockey, riding his first winner in 1999 at the age of 15 years - ‘Caitlyn Girl’ at Goondiwindi. Clinton went on to ride 113 winners in his relatively short riding career, marking himself as a very talented horseman.
After a hiatus from racing for over a decade, Clinton was once again bitten by the racing bug in 2018, embarking on a training career with his partner Erin, who herself is a very accomplished horsewoman. Erin has worked for some of Australia’s premier racing stables, including the John O’Shea yard when they were at the peak of their powers.
Together, the pair took no time in notching up their first winner – ‘Two Amor’ – and have since gone from strength to strength.
Locally known as the ‘QTIS King’, Clinton Taylor has been most successful in buying weanlings and yearlings and preparing them to win multiple races early in their career, sharing in the bonus riches offered through the Queensland Thoroughbred Incentive Scheme. Stable star – ‘Chinny Boom’ – is a testament to this, along with a list of other young horses who have all repaid their loyal owners early in their careers. That being said, the stable is equally adept at finding the key to tried horses and placing them to perfection.
At its core, the success of Taylor Racing is built on hard work, professionalism, passion, and mateship … with a cold beer and a laugh at the end of the day.
